Beschrijving boek
This is Edward Heath’s sailing autobiography, his own account of the challenges and joys he has experienced in a demanding sport. This is a revealing book, not only about the world of sailing but about Edward Heath himself - for he is frank about his personal reactions not only to triumph but to disappointment and tragedy. It is also an autobiography with a difference, for through it Mr Heath imparts the knowledge and skills he has acquired in both large and small boats.
Edward Heath is one of Britain’s most successful and accomplished yachtsmen. It was only in 1966 that he first took sailing lessons. Three years later he had won one of the world’s toughest ocean races, the Sydney to Hobart, defeating 78 other yachts, setting up three new records, and taking British ocean racing out of the doldrums. Since then he has gained many successes and honours including the captaincy in 1971 of Britain’s winning Admiral’s Cup team.
